N for nakedness and the nature of the people
The natural characteristics of the Finnish people are unique. We are generally shy, but also humourous, reliable, tenacious, and great lovers of sports.
We are also happy to be naked together, since the sauna still holds a sacred status in Finnish culture as a place for spiritual and bodily cleansing. Many older Finns are proud to have been born in the sauna.
Often described as natural eccentrics, Finns have been busily dreaming up crazy ways to enliven rural regions. Small towns proudly host ambitious events including world championships in esoteric activities such as sauna endurance and wife-carrying.
In backwoods Finland you might suddenly find someone sitting on an ants’ nest while his friends time how long he lasts.
Or you could chance upon a game of swamp soccer or competitors in an off-track skiing event blundering through deep snowdrifts.
